Tasting notes

A fresh, refreshing rosé with subtle berry fruit aromas. An off-dry palate has classic English summer fruit and hints of summer hedgerow. A crisp, fresh finish make this ideal summer drinking as an aperitif or with fish dishes and BBQs. WINEMAKING DETAILS: Gentle pneumatic pressing, yeast 71B, fermented at 16°c in stainless steel tanks. Bentonite fining. No MLF. Crossflow filter and membrane 0.45m.

The Harvest

The Vineyard is south facing on sandy loam soil. GDC trellis system with 800 vines per acre or 2000 per hectare. Most vines are 10-20 years old, all grapes are hand-picked. The 2019 harvest produced an above average crop with good ripeness levels and most importantly a good level of crisp acidity. The wine required minimum intervention in the winery and produced a wine of typical varietal character.

Wine with Food

At Three Choirs we don’t like telling you what to drink and eat as it’s such a personal thing and our tastes are all different. We could say that Bacchus goes very well with asparagus but if you don’t like asparagus you may feel you won’t like Bacchus which would be a great shame! To help get over this problem we have introduced new menus in our brasserie with lots of different flavours, so you can try for yourself and decide what you like, you are in control!

One of the beautiful vineyard in the outskirts of Gloucester city which produces 200,000 bottles of wines per year.... Picturesque location with calm and cool area. Stay as well as wine tasting available with an attractive and affordable rate.Nice cottages / lodges and rooms are available. Spacious restaurant available with an awesome vineyard view seating. Just returned from the wellness weekend at The 3Choirs Vineyards.I stayed in one of the lodges right out in the heart... of the vinyard, was absolutely wonderful, surrounded by the peaceful Herefordshire countryside. The lodge itself was very tastefully furnished, warm and comfortable. This was was part of a wellness weekend organised by Alison who runs the yoga/mindfulness and meditation with gong bath therapy.The food and service was wonderful, the wine tasting was fabulous which was included.if anyone is considering attending one of these weekends then i thoroughly recommend it. Stayed here 1st weekend in December. Did the wine tasting, lodge stay, breakfast and dinner combo as a winter package.... Priced fairly IMO. Wines not my thing however it was a present for the other half. Bart took the wine tasting, very knowledgeable and helpful, explained lots of stuff and improved my knowledge and appreciation of how it's made and the lengths they go to.The lodge itself is a bit of a shed, tho comfortable needs a bit of TLC. Stayed in Hereford, RHS of the floor next to the bed gets very hot.Went in the middle of winter, which was a shame as the grapes had been harvested and we joked it kinda looked like a cemetery with all the metal crosses for the individual vines.The meal and breakfast were outstanding and so was the service. The wines and beer which I recommend were very well priced also.A good stay. If we do it again it'll definitely be in the middle of summer where you get better views. Really was a shame as it was frosty the week before and that would of looked awesome.read more

Visited the vineyard for lunch on a gorgeous sunny day and wow, what a location! The restaurant is really lovely, with... rustic yet swanky decor and I really liked how it wasn't crowded. The waiting staff were excellent, made us feel every welcome and provided attentive but not overbearing service. We had a cheese sharing board which was top notch and we really enjoyed having a very relaxed lunch admiring the spectacular view through the open french doors. We had a nice walk round the grounds afterwards and bought a bottle of wine to take home. All in all it was a fabulous lazy lunch at a gorgeous venue.read more

We had a voucher we won in raffle so came along- wine tasting for 2 , water & crackers. Unfortunately crackers weren't... available so we ordered food as wine on an empty stomach isn't wise. We ordered the beef, fries & chorizo share dishes which were all delicious. We then ordered an share desert which was also delicious. All well presented, the view was beautiful and we enjoyed a walk around the vineyards after food. It would be so much nicer on a sunny day.read more

We've been to the three choirs vineyard twice now. The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views and you... can walk through the vines. If you're lucky with the weather, it's breath taking. There's a lovely outside area by the restaurant where you can sit and enjoy the views.They have recently redecorated the rooms which are more modern now. The room was very warm when we arrived. They have recently renovated the walk to the rooms which is now a really lovely garden.The food at the restaurant is tapas style, and it is recommended that you book. The waitress suggested ordering 2-3 dishes for 2. The cheese board for dessert is very nice but very big! Breakfast is quite good as well.We did the wine tasting, where (on a weekday at least) you pick 5 wines to try. This is done independently and we had fun trying to guess the different notes.Overall - a great place to visit.read more

Some if not all the rooms are located in a low level building overlooking the vinyard. All rooms have a patio with... recliner chairs, and are shielded by planting and a veranda. On a day like ours the views and atmosphere were delightful. The rooms have been pretty well thought out and have all the usual luxuries. I would love to have awoken to the view, but sadly the beds aren't orientated that way, and the shower was rather lack lustre, being neither very hot or powerful.We had a very nice wine tasting session, which we continued into dinner. I'm no wine expert, but I would say that their sparkling wine is on a par with any French offerings. The two reds were also most enjoyable. The dinner is run along tapas style, which is more than adequate, and served by the most helpful staff.For those of you who have been to The Cape, you will notice certain South African influences, and the whole experience bears many similarities. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.read more

Had a lovely one-night stay in one of the Lodges with beautiful views of the vineyard all around us. Beautiful bathroom... with a stand-alone bath and spacious shower. We went in February, but the sun was shining! Service was impeccable from all the staff (Georgina, Sharon, Marta, Carole and Alex!) Food was fantastic and fair and of course, the wine tasting experience was chilled and at our own pace. Extra points for lanterns for dark walks to the Brasserie and back and prompt service at dinner and breakfast times. Would definitely visit in the summer!read more

Great wine and a lovely vineyard to stroll around - but the restaurant/shop leaves a lot to be desired. They clearly... prioritise hotel guests and charge for wine tasting (£24!) which you will get for free at most other places. I would buy their wine elsewhere or visit one of the numerous other small vineyards in England and Wales for a better experience. Sorry to have bothered you.read more

Had a wonderful overnight stay to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. The accommodation, food, wine and... surroundings were all great but special mention must go to the staff on duty - they were all pleasant, cheerful, polite and attentive and their level of service was first-class. Stayed in room no 6, 1st Aug 2022. We arrived at 1.30, but there was no provision for any food and had to drive to... Ledbury. Room was clean but dated, at £195/night I expected a better decor. Water pressure was very poor so shower was not enjoyable. Carpet could do with a good clean. Wine tasting was good. But it lacked the atmosphere. We were expecting something similar, but on a smaller scale to what we have experienced in France or Italy, Dinner was good but seems like we were sitting in a soul less place. Food and service, excellent. Place lacks atmosphere. Would I go again- Yes, but will not stay overnight. They do make some interesting Wines.read more

Accommodation was spotless and set privately in the... grounds, amongst the vines.Wine tasting was super and Gill gave some excellent history of the vineyard to us.The tapas served in the restaurant is lovely and there are great views over the grounds. Absolutely fantastic. We stayed for a night at Three Choirs in one of their lodges which was beautiful. Nice and... secluded with a massive bed and a bath. We both slept well and being woken up by bird song, pheasants and bunny rabbits darting around outside was idyllic.We also stayed for a tasting and a tour. The wine was great. I've never had English dessert wine before and it was delicious. Dinner was also superb. Nice tapas style dishes with plenty of vegetarian options.The staff were also lovely and incredibly friendly.You should book. You won't regret itread more

If you want to get away from it all (and who doesn't, with the Covid madness that is raging as I post this?) then... seriously consider coming here. We took a two-night stay, booking a lodge room. I can't speak for the other accommodation, obviously, but the quiet is incredible - occasional pheasant notwithstanding... the lodge rooms are about 500 yards from the main building, down a well-lit gravel road, in the centre of the vineyard. The room was immaculately clean, spacious, and the ensuite bathroom (big claw-foot bath and walk-in shower) is perfect. The underfloor heating is wonderful. Around you, pheasants, moorhens, rabbits and other birds are not terribly disturbed by your presence, as you walk around the vineyard. Sitting on the adirondack chairs outside (even in winter sunshine) the quiet is so relaxing. I imagine you might spend an awful lot of time out here in the summer months. The bed is extremely firm, be prepared for that, but I can't fault it, otherwise.The restaurant is pristine, tables well spaced, and the staff are very efficient. It serves Tapas, with a wide menu, and everything freshly cooked. Portion sizes are generous, the preparation is really good, and very tasty. Have a glass of their cuvee to start with, it's excellent, and you get a large glass, too! Didn't want Tapas two nights running, so we found a local pub for our second night. You order your breakfasts (and choose times) beforehand, and a big plus for me was that marmite was included, I didn't have to ask for it...The wine tour - included in the price - was very informative, and it must be great to be here when bottling is happening. Generous tasting of 5 wines gives you a great idea of what they produce, all of which are on sale in their shop.All in all, an excellent stay. If the world settles down, I'd love to do the this again in the summerread more

Oh my...what a little gem of a place! We had a drink out on the lawn...1st time we've cooled down in 2 weeks!Then went... inside for food. The menu is Tapas style. Plenty of choice for meat eaters, cheese and fish lovers and vegetarians as well. We had a bottle of the sparkling wine...fruity, crisp and delicious and we tried the 2 reds that the vineyard produce...Ravenhill coming out on top. It is a little pricey but it makes a great place as a treat or special occasion. Definitely worth it. The staff are lovely and we had the best waitress Sharon...she was friendly and chatty. Overall best night out in a long time! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Well done 👍😊read more

This was the best location I have ever been to in England. You would be mistaken for being in a vineyard in the South... of France. We stayed one night in the lodge cabin. Cosy, really clean, great facilities and amazing views. Breakfast was outstanding with many options. The wine tasting was fantastic. We learnt very quickly what wine to buy and what to avoid. Jill who did the wine tour was so amazing, very welcoming and answered all our questions and took the time to help us with whatever we needed. I would a million percent recommend this place. Hopefully one day they do wedding bookings as it would be an amazing location for it.read more

We fell in love with the vineyard setting when we visited Napa Valley a few years ago. We were so excited to find a... British vineyard that would allow us to relive the experience.I do agree that the accommodation could be upgraded, and could be more luxurious. However, at this price point, it would be impossible to not give 5 stars!We normally have to explain to every single member of staff about our diet requirements, and at every meal. At the Three Choirs - I only mentioned it at check in, and every meal was planned around our needs in advance. This made the experience a lot more relaxing. And the food was fantastic, they did a great job of catering for vegans at such short notice. The breakfast was amazing!read more
