What’s happening in the world of wine this May?

Share

So can we now start to breathe more easily? As the vines start to grow, the delicate shoots are prone to frost damage if temperatures go too low. There have been reports of serious frost damage in parts of Europe, but so far, touch wood, Three Choirs Vineyards has come through unscathed. This is the advantage of a very good site and a maritime climate! Reaching mid-May is usually the time when we relax, so how about a glass of English wine to toast the jumping of the first hurdle of the season without losing any of the eggs from our basket!

The end of May will see the celebration of English wines during English Wine Week (Saturday 28th May – Sunday 5th June 2016). A chance for the nation to be patriotic, for restaurants and hotels to put English wine at the top of their list, and for retailers to feature it on their shelves.Be sure to follow #EnglishWineWeek over on Twitter to see what’s going on near you.

The media love a good English wine story, and we expect to see quite a few column inches over the next few weeks, as it also coincides with the International Cool Climate Wine Symposium, an event that attracts vineyard owners and winemakers from all over the world. This really does put English wine on the map.
